While perimenopause and menopause are considered ‘normal’ life changes, you get no medals for suffering through it alone.
Perimenopause and the early years of menopause are a critical window for health, and that’s true even if you don’t have symptoms. It is a sensitive period or inflection point, during which time small health problems could, if not addressed, amplify into larger and more permanent health problems later in life.
80% of women experience some symptoms, and for half of them, these symptoms last for years. This is why we recommend starting hormone replacement therapy during perimenopause.
The earlier you start HRT, the better the long-term outcomes will be. Our HRT program is considered ongoing care, including your prescriptions, follow-up visits with licensed clinicians, quarterly hormone labs, and 1:1 service with your customer care coach.

Throughout our lives, our bodies depend on estrogen to keep us healthy and going strong. Not only is it essential for our reproductive activities, it also affects our urinary tract, heart and blood vessels, bones, breasts, skin, hair, pelvis muscles and our brain.
Women produce 3x as much testosterone as estrogen (before menopause). Testosterone in women helps keep bones healthy, promotes cognitive health and maintains sex drive. It is helpful for overall energy levels and to keep bodily functions running smoothly.
We produce progesterone when we ovulate. The first hormone to go down when we start ovulating less or sporadically is progesterone. Progesterone converts to a neurosteroid called allopregnanolone which calms GABA receptors. Progesterone is our calming hormone that helps with mood, anxiety and sleep.
DHEA is a hormone that is produced in our adrenal gland. It helps produce other hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. Natural DHEA levels peak in early adulthood and then slowly fall as you age.
Every woman is different but estrogen and progesterone benefits can be felt in as little as 1-7 days. Testosterone usually takes longer at about 4 weeks. To experience the full benefits of HRT, it is best to be patient and know that dosing adjustments may need to be made to find the correct levels for your individual needs.
While there are possible side effects with any medication or therapy, the short answer is yes. The 2002 WHI study that claimed HRT caused an increased risk of breast cancer and blood clots has been proven wrong. There are numerous studies proving that HRT is not only safe and effective for treating menopausal symptoms but it is preventative and protective over our heart, brain and bones.
